Introduction to Yoga – 4 Week Series

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard “I can’t do yoga, I’m not flexible” or “I can’t sit still long enough to do yoga, I need to move”. And it is not unusual for those who are interested to feel intimidated by dropping into classes at a traditional yoga studio, thinking they are going to walk into a room full of people bent like pretzels. I used to think the same thing but soon learned that yoga is not an exclusive club for bendy people. It is for anyone who is willing or wants to give it a try, at any level, body type or physical condition, to work towards building strength, balance, stamina… and flexibility. In my Intro-To-Yoga series you will learn that yoga is so much more than a stretch – it is finding the connection between your mind and body. You will see that there is action within stillness and stillness within movement. These classes will build progressively each week focusing on alignment so students are able to practice in a safe and consistent way. Classes will also touch on traditional breathing techniques and some restorative poses to release tension. At the end of this series students will feel comfortable with dropping into their local studio for an open levels class and will have a basic set of poses to continue practicing and building on in a home setting.

Students will need to bring their own mat or can rent one for the duration of the series. Please advise when you are reserving your space if mat rental will be required.
